Trust makes a Grand Sporting Gesture
[24/07/2008]
The Trust made five donations of £1,000 to sports clubs across the borough, in a bid to encourage Trafford’s children and young people to keep fit and get involved in sporting activities.
- Gaffney’s School Of Irish Dancing, based in Stretford.
- The Silver Blades Synchronised Ice-Skating Team, based in Sale.
- The Urmston-based USA Twirlers.
- The Altrincham Swimming Club.
- The Trafford Basketball Club.
Gaffney’s School Of Irish Dancing, which boasts 50 members aged between three and 21, plans to use the donation to pay for new costumes and dancing shoes.
The Silver Blades Synchronised Ice-skating Team, which has 40 members ranging from seven to 16-years-of-age, will use the money to take part in future competitions.
The USA Twirlers, a new troupe which specialises in baton twirling and pom pom routines for nine to 14-year-olds, will use their money to cover the cost of new costumes and transport to events.
The borough-wide basketball team will use their money to pay for the hire of courts.
Children and young people who would like to get involved in any of the clubs can ring Jodie Walker at Trafford Housing Trust on 0161 968 0009.
