Greater Manchester Region CBL Service – opening doors for housing applicants

Trafford Housing Trust and Trafford MBC are amongst the 24 partnering Local Authorities and Housing Associations who, from July 2008, are supporting the Greater Manchester sub regional Choice Based Lettings scheme.

The scheme, named Pinpoint, is the largest in the country and provides access to social housing across the whole of Greater Manchester. It operates in addition to our local Choice Based Lettings scheme and enables customers across Greater Manchester to express interest in properties from other boroughs.

Pinpoint - What is it?

  • Pinpoint is a Choice Based lettings service which provides access to social housing across the whole of Greater Manchester.
  • It will provide more choice in selecting a home and offers you greater opportunity in deciding where you want to live.
  • Pinpoint is a partnership between 10 Greater Manchester Local Authorities and 14 Housing Associations.
  • You register just once with Trafford Housing Trust or partnering housing provider and this registration enables access to Pinpoint properties across Greater Manchester. You will not have to register with every local authority and you can still express interest in properties in our local scheme
  • Expressing interest in Pinpoint properties gives you an additional choice.
  • Available properties are advertised on the Pinpoint dedicated website

How do I register?

  • You will need to register with one of the Pinpoint partners, which could be Trafford Housing Trust or a local housing provider who is involved in this scheme.
  • Registration will mean you can apply for one Pinpoint property each week as well as our properties if you are on our waiting list.

Where are the properties advertised?

  • Available properties will be advertised through the Pinpoint website www.pinpoint.org.uk from all over Greater Manchester.

How do I apply for a property?

  • Look at the available properties on the website and when you find one you are interested in, perhaps visit or learn more about the area before expressing an interest.
  • Check to make sure you meet the criteria for that property as your bid will be rejected if you don’t.
  • Complete details regarding your household make up. Please ensure the details are accurate as if they differ to your details on the waiting list, your bid will be rejected.

How do you decide who is successful?

  • When all expressions of interest have been received a list is created. The applicant with the earliest registration date is likely to be offered the property.
  • The Landlord of that property is likely to carry out reference checks and other verification processes before a formal offer is made.
